Review of Stephen King’s The Outsider

It’s incredible to think that, taking into account how much I read, it’s my first experience with a Stephen King book. It’s a police investigation but with a terror/supernatural component. Very good for anyone who likes this kind of story and I do. Very interesting and entertaining.

The plot is original and well developed. Good characters. Actually, the whole thing is good.

The TV show based on this novel has just premiered on HBO. I waited to read the book before I saw it and it was a good decision. The book is much better. I was quite disappointed by the show. It’s too slow and too bleak.

Besides, I’ll never understand why producers, writers or whoever change things in the shows and movies based on books. In the case of The Outsider, Inspector Anderson’s family circumstances change, and even the names of the characters. When books are good enough there is no need to change anything.

Highly recommended. King’s next on my to-do list will be The Institute.
